MT. EVEREST NORTH COL EXPEDITION 7033M -  April 2009'

CANCELLED TILL FURTHER NOTICE. Everest South side in Nepal base camp trek and summit climb now booking for spring 2010.   Base Camp Trek      Everest Summit Climb 2010 & 2011.

During our Peak Freak's Mt. Everest Expedition in 2009, we have received special permission to take interested climbers to the North Col during our summit expedition.

DURATION

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced climbers to gain some altitude experience climbing Everest without the large financial and time investment in a summit climb. An opportunity to climb to just over 7000M. You will join up with the expedition team members and then fly over the Himalayas to Lhasa in Tibet to commence proper acclimatization before making our way to Everest Base Camp.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION

This expedition starts with the flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa with China Air.  After base camp set-up and proper acclimatization is attained climbers will commence the 22 km walk from Base Camp at 5200m to Advanced base camp at 6400M over two days. Several days are spent at ABC in order to acclimatize before making the five to six hour climb using fixed ropes up to the top of the North Col. The route is basically a straight forward trail up moraine to the East Rongbuk Glacier, which lead to the fixed ropes. The descent takes about three hours.

The North Col is a large area where all expeditions make Camp I and from here there are incredible views of the entire North Face of Everest, the West Rongbuk Glacier, Lho La, Pumori and Cho Oyo. This is a  very rewarding non technical climb at altitude.
