PEAK FREAKS NEWS
Wednesday, Sep 24, 2008
Welcome to our autumn newsletter. Summer is on its way out and
so are we. We had a very exciting year in 2008. We enjoyed successful expeditions on Mt. Everest,
Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Aconcagua. Peak Freaks totalled 13 Everest summits
this year including putting the FIRST climber from Saudi Arabia on top and now
we are gearing up for our Mt. Pumori/|Everest Training climb..
Mount Pumori
Expedition/Everest Training Climb begins Oct. 2, 2008 in Nepal. Followed by an adventure in New Zealand and
finishing off with scuba diving
in the Cook Islands. After that we will be heading back to Africa for New Years,
skiing in Europe and by the time we return, our BC winter will be in full swing
offering us glorious waste deep powder. To stay on top of it all will we once
again be offering a series of avalanche courses.
Below is an introduction to what we have been up to and what is
coming- enjoy!

Mount Pumori South Ridge
"BAG IT" Expedition: NEPAL: Mount Pumori is a 7145m peak
situated in the Everest region of Nepal. The common trekking peak, Kala Pattar
is her shoulder. Mount Pumori is the daughter mountain of Everest. This is our
fourth expedition on Mount Pumori via the south ridge. This is not the standard
route that has claimed so many lives in the past few years. For reasons we have
explained in our 2007 Ama Dablam blog, we have moved off Ama Dablam for safety,
sanitary and sanity reasons.
We will
once again be practicing our "white snow policies" by supplying
everyone with biodegradable human waste bags in an effort to keep the route and the waters
of the Khumbu clean as we did on Everest this past spring. Hence the name
"BAG IT" expedition. more....

Learn For Life:
NEPAL: Remember
Vanessa? If you were following our Everest blog this past spring you will
remember her as the fearless and caring leader leading of our support trek group
to Everest base camp. Vanessa and her husband Guy Higgott were on
expedition with us in 2007 on Ama Dablam. During that time they fell in love with the country and
more so the people. Right now Guy and another Peak Freak'er, Guy
Leveille, have teamed up to climb Cho Oyu to raise money for
"Learn For Life". In the next while Vanessa and I will be putting our
heads together to organize a support trek for "Learn For Life".
The proceeds from this trek will go the scholarship program. We are
looking at dates of spring 2010 and possibly the Annapurna region. Stay tuned!

Climb Aconcagua:
ARGENTINA
- Feb. 6, 2009 - Polish Glacier. Aconcagua is an excellent pre-Everest objective to gain altitude
before joining our Everest climb. The acclimatization gained from our
February climb works perfectly for allowing the Everest climber an
opportunity to get pre-adjusted to high altitude before heading over to
the Himalayas. Also a good training ground to test skills
needed for big mountain climbing on a non-technical peak. Its not
just an Everest boot camp though, it is much more. It is a very enjoyable
objective for anyone with limited to no skills and great sense of
adventure. ...more...
A few spots still remaining for this February. |

Everest Base Camp Trek: NEPAL- May 1, 2009- Once again we are offering a 17 day trek to Everest
Base Camp including 2 nights expedition style with our Everest summit

is a unique opportunity for Peak Freak participants. more.. |

the main Caucasus Chain- a range almost 1000 miles long with a heavily
glaciated central section containing several summits rising well above
